- A continued partnership for additional projects across the district
ER9 needed to modernize several aspects of its foodservice operations across multiple schools. Their goals were clear: replace aging equipment, improve cafeteria efficiency, and ensure kitchens had the tools needed to serve hundreds of students each day.
Rather than simply replacing equipment piece-for-piece, Billie Jo and the team at Globe Equipment Company leaned in — reviewing each location’s needs to identify opportunities to improve functionality, efficiency, and value.
- Joel Barlow High School. At Joel Barlow High School (approximately 700 students), we replaced outdated hot and cold serving lines, cooking equipment, and refrigeration in the cafeteria and kitchen.
- Redding Elementary and Samuel Staples Elementary. At Redding Elementary (approximately 470 students) and Samuel Staples Elementary (approximately 600 students), we replaced outdated cafeteria serving lines, with height-appropriate features designed specifically for younger students. This included a line where kids easily see the food options and comfortably use the tray slides — making the serving process better for all involved.
- District-Wide Improvements. Beyond the individual schools, the district also needed better ways to maintain food quality and temperature during service. To support this need, we replaced aging heated holding cabinets with new units and added heated transport cabinets to move hot food safely between preparation and service areas.
An Ongoing Partnership
The district values a practical, transparent approach, and Globe delivers it. Our relationship continues to grow.
Another project is currently underway at Helen Keller Middle School, where we are replacing the cafeteria’s hot and cold serving lines with a new system.
Why the District Continues to Choose Globe
Our goal is always to listen and recommend the right path — not just sell more equipment.
In our work with the ER9 district, that has meant:
- Recommending efficient, multi-use cooking equipment where possible
- Reducing the total number of pieces needed in the kitchen when it improves efficiency
- Providing fair, well-researched pricing that helps the district avoid costly rebidding processes
- Maintaining clear communication through site visits and consistent updates
- Ensuring our delivery team goes above and beyond to smooth the process of getting the equipment into place
“We appreciate that our projects are not just another quote or another bid when we work with Globe. They really listen to what we need and focus on options that are practical. In many cases, they recommended multi-use equipment that helped us improve our operations while staying within our budget. They’re also just plain good to work with,” said David Kennedy, Director of Dining Services.
By focusing on practical solutions, budget focus, and strong communication, Globe Equipment and ER9 have built a long-term partnership that we’re looking forward to growing.
