Mar 23rd 2012

While we know there are many different features to consider before purchasing commercial refrigerators and freezers. The topic here to consider is where the compressor is mounted. Globe carries equipment from trusted manufacturers including  Traulsen and True, as well as others.

Benefits of the Top Mounted Compressor Design

  • Food and spills will not bind, clog or damage circuitry
  • Cleaner than the floor
  • Slightly greater total cubic foot area of food storage
  • Keeps kitchens cooler since the heat discharge is already at the ceiling
  • More total cubic footage

Benefits of the Bottom Mounted Compressor Design

  • Bottom of the refrigeration unit is higher than top mounted, reducing back strain when reaching the bottom of the refrigerator
  • Cooler area of the kitchen for the compressor since heat rises
  • Ability to store on the top of the refrigerator
  • Easier access for servicing
  • Less expensive
