Globe Equipment Company is a family owned and operated restaurant supplies and equipment business located in Bridgeport, CT. Founded over 75 years ago in 1938 by brothers Sidney and David Ringelheim, it is now run by the second and third generations of Ringelheims.

Globe's 75+ Year History in the Restaurant Equipment and Supply Business

Sidney and David began their careers in foodservice equipment and supplies after immigrating to the United States. Their journey started in New York City as warehouse workers in a similar business. After some time, they thought they would try selling those products familiar to them in Bridgeport, Connecticut, about 60 miles northeast of New York.

Once located in Connecticut, the brothers began doing what they knew best. David took orders from local restaurants, and Sidney drove to the Bowery in New York City each week in his station wagon to fill those orders. By 1946, business had grown so much that they officially incorporated Globe Equipment.

Over the next 25 years, the business continued to flourish and Sidney’s two sons, Paul and Jay, joined the company. In 1973, Globe acquired one of their local competitors, Platt and Company, and moved to their current location on Dewey Street in Bridgeport.

In 2004 Jay’s son, Brian, committed to working at the business, continuing the family tradition. Within a year, Globe Equipment had moved into the digital world with a fully functional e-commerce site and eBay store. As the internet grew, so did Globe Equipment’s service area.

Sidney and David started the business with a clear philosophy- “Quality products, quality people, quality relationships." A lot has changed since 1938, but a lot has remained the same. The knowledge, integrity, and passion that Sidney and David instilled in the company remain with the entire Globe Equipment family today.

A Local, Family Business with Customers Around the World

Globe now has customers on every continent (except Antarctica), and is registered as an authorized GSA (Government Service Agency) distributor. Globe is an authorized online distributor for many of our manufacturers.

Globe Equipment’s current facility boasts a newly renovated 10,000 sq. ft. showroom that displays over 8,000 products, a drafting department, inside and outside sales teams, installation capabilities, delivery systems and an e-commerce presence.
