Conveyor Dish Machines

Jul 27th 2012

Conveyor machines, as with door type machines, are for mid to high volume operations that have over 75 seats. When you require a high turn over of ware washing, then a conveyor is right for you. (i.e. Schools, Health Care, College/Universities, Lodging/Casinos, Restaurants, Government facilities’) Conveyor dish machines are the second largest type of ware washing machine in the industry. Basic conveyor machines wash 120 – 350 racks per hour depending on brand and the features needed or desired. That could be up to 8,500 dishes an hour! Water usage is .39 to .75 gallons per rack. There are several items to consider when purchasing a conveyor type machine.

  • How dirty are the dishes?
  • Does the staff take part in scraping and pre-rinsing?
  • How hard is your water?

Conveyor machines have additional pre-wash and scraper cycles available as well as special water filtration based on water conditions. Often a Conveyor machine will have two venting/condensate hoods. We recommend a Hobart ventless machine. Although your initial purchase may be slightly higher on the machine when compared to a standard conveyor machine, once you factor in the purchase price of a condensate hood and the thousands of dollars you will save on your utilities your initial expense will be a “wash” in as little as just one to two years of operation!

Accessorizing a conveyor ware washer It is very important that these machines get properly accessorized for the facility with the right tracks and tables (if necessary) for loading and unloading dishes. Sometimes these tracks may have pegs for trays; certain dishes, etc., or they may just need to accommodate dishes in dish racks. Unless you’re replacing a machine, always involve an experienced sales representative to size these dish machines.
