Globe Equipment Company was founded in 1938 by Sidney and David Ringelheim. The first Globe Equipment storefront was opened by Sydney and David on Middle Street in Bridgeport, CT where they began selling restaurant supplies. In 1946, the business was incorporated and the business flourished after the end of the war.
The years passed, and in 1960, Globe Equipment was forced to relocate to East Main Street in Bridgeport due expansion. Business continued to grow at this new location, and in 1964, Globe Equipment moved yet again to a larger facility on State Street, also in Bridgeport, CT. By 1971, Sidney's sons Paul and Jay working at the store, and were the second generation to join Globe.
In our continued growth, Globe Equipment Company acquired Platt and Co, another local restaurant supplier. It soon became apparent that the State Street facility was too small, and in 1973, the business moved to its current location on Dewey Street, also in Bridgeport. Sales ballooned with a modern showroom, parking lot, and warehouse space. In 1980, an adjacent building was purchased. To date, the showroom has expanded four times, as has warehouse space.
In 2004, Jay's son Brian joined the company and continued the family tradition in the business. Our current facility boasts a drafting department, sales, installation capabilities, delivery, and an eCommerce presence. We thank all of our customers for their continued support and loyalty to Globe Equipment.
