Globe Equipment Company is a family owned and operated restaurant supplies and equipment business located in Bridgeport, CT. Founded in 1938, Globe now has the third generation of Ringelheim family working for it.

Globe Equipment’s founders, Sidney and David Ringelheim, began their careers in foodservice equipment and supplies after immigrating to the United States. Their journey started in New York City as warehouse workers in a similar business. After some time, they thought they would try selling those products familiar to them in Bridgeport, Connecticut, about 60 miles northeast of New York. 

Once located in Connecticut, the brothers began doing what they knew best. David would call on customers, and Sidney would take care of fulfilling the orders. They would go door to door, taking orders at the local bars, clubs, and restaurants. By 1946, business had grown so much that they officially incorporated Globe Equipment. 

Over the next 25 years, the business continued to flourish and Sidney’s two sons, Paul and Jay, joined the company. In 1973, Globe acquired one of their local competitors, Platt and Company, in addition to moving to their current location on Dewey Street in Bridgeport. 

In 2004 Jay’s son, Brian, committed to working at the business, continuing the family tradition. Within a year, Globe Equipment had moved into the digital world with a fully functional e-commerce site and eBay store. As the internet grew, so did Globe Equipment’s service area.

Globe has customers on every continent (except Antarctica), and is registered as an authorized GSA (Government Service Agency) distributor. Globe is an authorized online distributor for many of our manufacturers.

Globe Equipment’s current facility boasts a 7,500 sq. ft. showroom that displays over 6,000 products, a drafting department, inside and outside sales teams, installation capabilities, delivery systems and an e-commerce presence. Globe Equipment also has a 5,000 sq. ft. Rubbermaid Showroom, the only one in the country, which displays more than 1,500 current Rubbermaid products.
